A board-certified interventional cardiologist, Mehran Moussavian, is CEO of the Cardiovascular Institute of San Diego, Inc. Since establishing the Chula Vista, California, private practice seven years ago, he has concentrated on cardiac medicine. Dr. Mehran Moussavian diagnoses and treats patients experiencing heart-related or peripheral ailments. The doctor also sees patients at the nearby Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center.

Dr. Mehran Moussavian embarked on his medical career on the East Coast, attending New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology. After earning his DO degree, he spent the subsequent four years in a primary-care residency program at Yale University. In his final year, he was appointed chief medicine resident.

In 1998, Dr. Mehran Moussavian relocated to California to accept a fellowship at the Scripps Clinic & Research Foundation. During his five years there, he was interventional cardiology fellow and cardiovascular fellow. Dr. Moussavian also contributed to clinical research, which was published in medical journals such as Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine and ACC.

Dr. Mehran Moussavian later undertook an interventional peripheral fellowship at El Camino Hospital before joining Community Memorial Hospital in 2004 as staff physician.

Throughout his career, Dr. Moussavian has obtained advanced credentials in his field. Certified in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, and internal medicine, he also has been named a diplomate of the American Boards of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He maintains ongoing ties to his profession through membership in the American College of Cardiology.
